ShipCore wins landmark order: 40 main engines to be upgraded

ShipCore is proud to announce its largest project to date: a comprehensive fleet-wide upgrade covering 40 main engines. The order includes installation of ShipCore’s three flagship solutions – the Automatic Drain Cleaning System (ADCS), the Sludge Collection Unit (SCU), and the Lube-oil Reuse System (LRS).

This large-scale retrofit package demonstrates the growing industry demand for solutions that combine operational reliability, safety improvements, and measurable sustainability gains. By implementing all three systems in parallel, the fleet will secure benefits that go beyond individual engine performance, creating long-term impact on daily operations across the vessels

The upgrade will provide:

  • Transform waste oil into a valuable asset in the cylinder oil strategy, with high BN and detergency compared to other oils used for blending fit-for-purpose cylinder oil.
  • Increase engine reliability with fast and precise scrape down analysis, offering a valuable tool for early detection of excessive wear, maintaining stable feed rates, and further optimizing cylinder oil consumption.
  • Extend the lifetime of critical main engine components, such as stuffing box parts and system oil. With continuous cleaning, the stuffing box will not be drowned in sludge, thereby minimizing leakage and reducing wear.

For operators, this means lower maintenance costs, reduced downtime, and improved monitoring of engine condition – key factors for safe and efficient voyages. For crews, it translates into fewer routine hazards and a safer engine room environment. And for the industry, it is a clear example of how technology can help achieve ambitious ESG targets.

With 40 main engines scheduled for upgrade, the project represents not only ShipCore’s largest order to date but also a milestone in advancing how modern fleets operate. It underlines the growing recognition that automation, safety, and sustainability must go hand in hand to secure the future of shipping.

At ShipCore, we are committed to developing solutions that go beyond short-term fixes and deliver long-lasting value for shipowners, operators, and crews. Our patented technologies are designed to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in the engine room: reducing manual workload, extending component lifetime, and supporting the transition towards greener operations.

This landmark project confirms that the industry is ready to embrace new standards in maintenance and sustainability – and ShipCore is proud to be at the forefront of this development.
