Turn used marine lube-oil into value

Shipping produces thousands of tons of waste oil annually – but we see value where others see waste. By enabling the recovery and reuse of drained oil, ShipCore helps shipping companies lower costs, improve efficiency, and take a significant step toward a cleaner, more sustainable maritime industry.

Why do the world’s largest shipowners choose ShipCore’s technology?

We have successfully developed a patented technology that many have tried – and failed – to create: a system that collects used marine lubricating oil, cleans it to a pristine standard, and makes it safe for reuse as cylinder oil. This breakthrough unlocks a whole new level of savings and operational reliability for shipowners.
Our solutions offer proven day-one savings of USD 100,000–400,000 with short ROI. Savings are achieved by reusing marine lube oils as cylinder oil and by safely reducing feed rates, while continuous sludge removal keeps engines clean.

All drain pipes are cleaned 24/7/365, keeping them free of sludge. This allows used cylinder oil to flow freely instead of being compressed in the pipes, ensuring accurate scrape down sample data you can trust, enabling your crew and you to take well-informed engine operation decisions.

As sludge and excess oil are continuously removed from the underside of the piston, the source of scavenge air fires is eliminated. Further savings come from proven reduced stuffing box wear and oil losses through continuous sludge and particle removal. With ShipCore’s products, your crew can save 1,000+ hours annually by automating drain and scavenge air cleaning.

Lube Oil Reuse System (LRS)

ShipCore’s Lube Oil Reuse System (LRS) revolutionizes the handling and lifetime of lubrication oil for maritime 2-stroke engines.

Working together with the ADCS and SCU, the LRS reuses lubrication oil to be reintroduced into the engine. This drastically lowers the total cost of lubrication oil used to operate the engine and lowers emissions from fossil fuels by reusing rather than paying to dispose of excess oil.

With ShipCore’s LRS, improved sustainability also means an improved ship economy.

Sludge Collecting Unit (SCU)

ShipCore’s Sludge Collecting Unit (SCU) removes the need for manual cleaning of scavenge air drain tanks and is central to facilitating the repurpose of oil drained from the engine to be reintroduced as reuse cylinder lubrication oil in our Lube Oil Reuse System (LRS).

With the SCU, engine crews save a significant amount of man hours on cleaning duties, improving working conditions by reducing the exposure to hazardous substances.

Automatic Drain Cleaning System (ADCS)

ShipCore’s Automatic Drain Cleaning System (ADCS) reduces sludge accumulation in 2-stroke engines through continuous cleaning of scavenge air drains.

The solution is highly durable and reduces the total amount of cylinder lubrication oil needed as well as the total fuel consumption of the ship.

Add to this that it improves the working conditions and work safety of the engine crew significantly, while lowering their man-hours spent on cleaning duties.

About us

ShipCore is built around personnel who have backgrounds in marine engineering, lubrication technology, and the shipping industry. In ShipCore we come together to form an innovative group with a single purpose: To revolutionize the maritime industry.

To do this, our engineers research and develop solutions to issues that shipping companies face in their daily operations. We build the solutions in our factory and test them on the ships of our collaboration partners.

To get them out to as wide an audience as possible, helping the entire shipping industry towards more sustainable and cost-efficient solutions, we engage with shipping companies around the world all year round.

Testing our Automatic Drain Cleaning System (ADCS) for the main engine (M/E) drain pipe system and scavenge space with Hapag-Lloyd.
Maintaining engine efficiency and reliability is crucial in ship operations. Hapag-Lloyd, with their many years of operation, know this as well as any company. We are very happy to have been able to draw on their experience and professionalism in testing our products.

After two years, our system is still in operation and has shown many impressive results on Hapag-Lloyd's ship, MV "Brussels Express".
